Julbo

The French brand Julbo is more than a hundred years old. The brand was named after his founder, Jules Baud, who was an optician from the Jura region (France). He launched his very first glasses in 1888 in Morez, in the valley of the French eyewear industry. In the early 20th century he worked together with the Chamonix crystal-hunters to design efficient Julbo sunglasses delivering the best possible eye protection in the high mountains. Julbo’s creations marked the beginning of an optical sun protection adventure, but the brand became really famous with the introduction of the iconic Vermont glacier sunglasses. Throughout the years, it has become a benchmark brand for many elite athletes in the mountaineering world. The product range has expanded and today the brand is offering complete series of Julbo ski goggles such as the Aerospace and Lightyear models, as well as Julbo ski helmets. The French brand is leading the outdoor sunglasses market thanks to quality lenses and advanced technological innovations. Their glasses feature innovative lenses such as the high performance Zebra photochromic lenses, the NXT, or the Cameleon lenses that are both photochromic and polarized. Julbo supports many iconic athletes and accompanies them, whether they are Nordic or Cross skiers, or freeriders. In the 1980s, mountaineering was a booming activity, with some memorable successes and a series of incredible summits conquered. At that time, the company sponsored all these adventures, such as the three summits over 8,000 meters that Eric Escoffier climbed in less than three weeks, or Patrick Gabarrou's famous "Voyage du Gab", which involved climbing seven north faces in the Mont Blanc massif in just three days.
