Product description — Oblivion 102

Designed to devour powder and tackle road gaps far from groomed runs, the Head Oblivion 102 ski is a freestyle backcountry model born from a collaboration between Head freeskiers and their engineers. A twin-tip through and through, it’s designed for creative riders looking to ride fast, high, and clean in natural terrain, without sacrificing any of the park’s signature moves.

What is the Head Oblivion 102 ski designed for?

This ski is at home in the backcountry freestyle scene, where the mountain becomes a life-size jump course. With a 102 mm waist, it floats in powder while retaining the responsiveness of a true twin-tip. Its twin-tip profile allows for switch landings and takeoffs on both natural jumps and features. It’s a ski for committed lines and road gaps, in both fresh and slushy snow.

Who is the Head Oblivion 102 designed for?

The Oblivion 102 is designed for advanced to expert skiers who want to push their limits between the park and the backcountry. Its Carbon Sandwich construction and hybrid core require active control: this is a ski for committed riders who know how to make the most of a technical twin-tip in demanding conditions.

How does the Oblivion 102 perform in powder?

The TNT rocker at the tip allows the ski to float naturally and maintains a smooth ride in fresh snow. The camber under the waist ensures that the edges maintain contact with the snow underfoot, which preserves precision as the snow hardens. It’s a ski that floats without sacrificing pop.

What is the ISS system on the Oblivion 102 for?

The Independent Suspension System consists of elastomers placed along the edges, in the tip, the tail, and under the waist. It filters out vibrations generated by the rocker sections and provides cushioning that makes the ride smoother at high speeds and on landings.

Is the core of the Oblivion 102 truly eco-friendly?

The core combines poplar wood and recycled PET from plastic bottles. This blend minimizes the ski’s environmental impact and reduces its weight, while maintaining stable and robust performance for backcountry riding.

What sets the Oblivion 102 apart from the Oblivion 116?

Both models share the freestyle backcountry design, the Carbon Sandwich construction, and the poplar-recycled PET core. The Oblivion 116 is significantly wider: it’s designed for deep powder and big mountain skiing by expert skiers. The Oblivion 102, with its more moderate profile, remains more versatile and accessible in shallower snow, while still retaining a true freestyle character.

Tips and advice

How to choose the length of your skis?

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

How to choose the size of your piste and all-mountain skis?

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.

In order to fully function and ensure safety, your bindings need to be set according to the Afnor FD S 52-748 standard. We wrote down a guide to help you find out the release value matching your needs.
