Product description — Mindbender 101

The K2 Mindbender 101 is a freeride ski capable of transitioning from deep powder to turns on groomed snow without changing gear. It’s just as at home on the rugged terrain of the backcountry as it is on the trails leading to the next run.

What are the features of the K2 Mindbender 101 ski?

With a 101 mm waist, it offers a versatile profile that floats in powder without being bulky on hard snow. The All Terrain Rocker profile makes it easier to lift off and pivot on soft snow while maintaining grip thanks to the classic camber underfoot. Dark Matter technology dampens vibrations and keeps the ride quiet on rough snow. Its versatile turning radius allows for both short and long turns, depending on the terrain and your preference.

Who is the K2 Mindbender 101 ski designed for?

It’s suited for advanced to expert skiers—those who are committed and physically fit—who want a pair of freeride skis capable of handling anything. Its versatility appeals to those who ride mostly off-piste but refuse to be held back when they return to the groomed runs.

What are the main qualities of the K2 Mindbender 101 ski?

Versatility

Stability

Responsiveness

Is the Mindbender 101 effective on groomed runs?

Yes. The classic camber and Titanal I-Beam give it solid grip on hard snow, which sets it apart from a freeride ski designed solely for powder.

Does the Mindbender 101 float well in powder?

Yes. The All Terrain Rocker profile lifts the tip to make it easy to float, even though the lift is less than on a wider freeride ski.

Does the Mindbender 101 stay stable in bumpy snow?

Yes. Dark Matter technology and the Titanal I-Beam construction filter out vibrations and keep the ski planted when the snow is uneven.

What’s the difference between the Mindbender 101 and the Mindbender 111?

The 101 is narrower, making it more versatile for switching between off-piste and on-piste skiing. The 111 is wider with a longer radius, making it ideal for deep powder and big, fast turns.

Tips and advice

How to choose the length of your skis?

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

How to choose the size of your piste and all-mountain skis?

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.

In order to fully function and ensure safety, your bindings need to be set according to the Afnor FD S 52-748 standard. We wrote down a guide to help you find out the release value matching your needs.

When buying a pair of skis, you will have to complete a form asking for your measurements. Please complete it with the most accurate information: it will allow our technicians to adjust precisely your bindings and lower down the risk of injury.
