How to choose the right board size for kids?
What length and what type of board does your kid need? The ideal board is the one that’s suited to their age and skills, so that mini champs can have fun straight away. Here are our tips, age per age.
What is a good snowboard for kids?
Manufacturers use technologies tested and proven to be efficient on adult boards to design super playful and forgiving kids’ snowboards, while retaining grip and efficiency. The flex profile is critical and specifically developed for young riders. Enabling kids to ride effortlessly.
What board should you buy for a 5 / 6 year old kid?
In average, 5 or 6 year-old kids are between 3 to 4 feet tall. This means they need a board between 80 and 115 cm. The most important thing is to make things easy. Prefer forgiving boards, something with an easy pivot will help kids link turns better. Flashy and fancy graphics are a bonus feature, it’s always nicer to have a board that looks nice!
Snowboard for kids between 7 to 9 years old (between 3'5" and 4'5".)
7 to 9 year old kids measure between 3'5" and 4'5". Their board length should fit between 100 and 130cm. Boards designed for kids of this age are really fun to ride and really playful. They are flexible and forgiving. Rockers have made them a lot easier to manoeuvre and facilitate the first turns and rotations.
How to choose a snowboard for a kid between 10 and 12?
At this age, most kids are 4'2" up to 5'2" tall. The matching board length is 115 up to 140 cm. Pre-teens start to develop their own tastes and they will probably ask for specific graphics but remember, the most important thing is to get them something suited for their skills. Those who have been riding for a few years will want something lively and powerful, inspired by the boards ridden by grownups, while retaining a softer flex that matches their weight.
For teenagers: adults’ snowboards in short sizes
Over 5 feet, we don’t speak of kids models anymore, but light riders should definitely keep a small board to make things easier.
