Description

The Tracer 88 is the "small" of the range, with only 88 mm on the waist width. If its big siblings (98, 108, 118) are oriented towards a more freeride practice, the 88 is rather oriented towards the summits with rando bindings and a pair of skins under the sole. Yes, the Tracer 88 is a versatile touring ski that we highly recommend.

What is the program of the ski touring Armada Tracer 88?

Thinner than its predecessors and therefore much lighter, equipped with a Caruba core ensuring dynamism and lightness, the Tracer 88 is in the vein of skis that perform as well on the way up as down. It is agile and easy to manoeuvre with the skins, and above all it remains very efficient during descents. The edge-to-edge passages are dynamic and precise, it offers an excellent recovery on hard snow and will not fail you if the conditions suddenly change. If we have to note a weakness, we'll talk about its performance in deep snow. The 88mm on the waist width will have trouble keeping you on the surface, but its tip rocker and your good ski level will help provide a good lift.

Who is the Armada Tracer 88 ski touring for?

We are dealing with a very accessible ski, an excellent choice for a first ski for touring. It remains ultra-versatile during descent and will enable you to experience the joys of this practice without requiring an excessive physical effort. For intermediate or advanced skiers.

Tips and advice

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.
