Description

The Atomic Backland 101 W is a freerando ski for women that takes you far off the marked trails, where you’ll need to climb a bit to carve your own lines in the fresh snow before letting it all out on the descent.

What are the features of the Atomic Backland 101 W ski?

With a 101 mm waist, it floats in powder and maintains stability as soon as the snow gets deep. The double rocker lifts the tip off the snow and makes it easier to change direction, while the camber underfoot maintains edge-to-snow contact and grip on hard snow. Its light weight (about 1.26 kg per ski) makes it a pleasure to carry on the ascent to remote spots. On the descent, it remains playful and easy to handle in both transformed snow and slushy conditions.

Who is the Atomic Backland 101 W designed for?

This ski is designed for intermediate to advanced female skiers who are already technically comfortable and want to venture off-piste to explore, ascend, and descend varied terrain without carrying extra weight.

What are the main features of the Atomic Backland 101 W ski?

Lightweight

Versatility

Float

Is the Backland 101 W effective on ascents?

Yes. Its light weight and Ultra Light Woodcore made of poplar and caruba wood help reduce fatigue on ascents to remote spots.

How does the Backland 101 W perform in powder?

It floats well thanks to its widened HRZN 3D tip and dual rocker, which help it lift out of the snow and maintain maneuverability when the snow gets deeper.

Does the Backland 101 W grip well on hard snow?

Yes. The camber underfoot maintains edge-to-snow contact, and the Duracap Sidewall construction transfers pressure directly to the edge for solid grip.

Does the Backland 101 W remain maneuverable in difficult snow conditions?

Yes. The HRZN 3D tip lightens the front of the ski and reduces inertia, making it easier to pivot in deep powder and on crusted snow.

Tips and advice

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.

In order to fully function and ensure safety, your bindings need to be set according to the Afnor FD S 52-748 standard. We wrote down a guide to help you find out the release value matching your needs.

When buying a pair of skis, you will have to complete a form asking for your measurements. Please complete it with the most accurate information: it will allow our technicians to adjust precisely your bindings and lower down the risk of injury.
