Dynafit Radical and Radical Pro ski touring boots

The Radical and Radical Pro boots are versatile ski touring models, designed to combine walking range on the ascent with support on the descent. In walk mode, the cuff offers 60° of range, giving the freedom needed for a natural stride; in ski mode, the cuff locks into place to provide stiffness. Closure is via 3 micro-adjustable buckles and a power strap (Ultra Lock). The liner is thermoformable, allowing the fit to be adapted to the shape of the foot.

The main difference between the two families lies in the locking system and stiffness. The Radical Pro features the Hoji Lock system and is positioned for downhill-focused use and free touring (flex 120 men, 110 women). The Radical uses the Hoji Single Lock system and offers a more accessible flex (110 men, 100 women), for a more all-round touring set-up. Dynafit Radical low-tech bindings

The range includes pin-tech low-tech bindings, including the Speed Radical and Radical models (82, 92, 100 and 110 mm), renowned for their reliability and ease of entry. The width is chosen according to the waist of your skis: it must be at least equal to the waist width, or slightly wider. Dynafit Radical skis

The Dynafit Radical range is available in several widths, covering different uses, from the Radical 88 designed for balanced performance on all snow types, to the Radical 107, which is more geared towards free touring and powder. The Radical 97 sits in the middle, with more float without sacrificing manoeuvrability. All the models use a classic camber paired with a double rocker, to deliver edge grip, easy pivoting and versatility in varied conditions.

Our view after testing

On snow, the Radical stands out for its sound, predictable behaviour. It is quick to get on with, with good edge hold on firm snow and smooth turn initiation, even when the terrain becomes uneven. The weight remains sensible without giving the impression of a model that is too light or unstable on the descent. The Radical 88 is the liveliest and most precise, while the 97 and 107 versions gain noticeably in comfort, float and confidence in softer snow.

Dynafit Radical ski touring clothing and accessories

The Radical range also includes ski touring clothing and accessories for men and women: softshell jackets and waterproof-breathable shell jackets (GORE-TEX), insulated jackets and fleece mid-layers (Primaloft, Polartec), ski trousers and off-piste backpacks. The whole range is designed to offer freedom of movement, protection from the elements and breathability during exertion.

What is the difference between the Radical and the Radical Pro?

The Radical Pro is stiffer (flex 120 men / 110 women), uses the Hoji Lock system and is aimed at downhill performance in free touring. The Radical offers a softer flex (110 men / 100 women) with the Hoji Single Lock system, for a more versatile touring use.

Which Radical binding width should you choose?

The binding width (82, 92, 100 or 110 mm) should match your ski waist width at the very least, or be slightly wider. For example, a ski with an 88 mm waist pairs with a 92 mm binding.

Is the Dynafit Radical range suitable for beginners?

The 88 mm models and Radical boots (flex 100/110) are suitable for intermediate skiers. The 107 mm models and Radical Pro boots (flex 120) are more aimed at advanced to expert skiers.
