Armada Arv and Arw

The Armada ARV and ARW range covers a freestyle approach that evolves from the terrain park to the whole resort, then on to soft snow and the backcountry as the waist width increases. The line includes adult ARV models, women’s ARW models and the ARV 100 Jr, with different constructions, performance levels and preferred terrains. Armada ARV 84: the most approachable park model

The Armada ARV 84 is the most direct entry into the ARV family. Its 84 mm waist keeps swing weight down during edge-to-edge transitions and makes freestyle tricks easier. It is a good option for skiers who want to progress in freestyle without immediately moving to the more demanding construction of the ARV 88.

Its hybrid core combines poplar with a composite material. This is complemented by AR50 sidewalls and a profile combining traditional camber underfoot with rocker in the tip and tail. This twin-tip shape allows skiing switch and makes spins easier.

Armada ARV 88: more structure for committed park skiing

The Armada ARV 88 keeps a freestyle bias centred on the terrain park and groomers, but it is not simply an ARV 84 that has been widened by four millimetres. Its construction is based on a poplar core, ash inserts underfoot and W3DGEWALL sidewalls.

Its 88 mm waist provides more area underfoot for take-offs and landings. Even so, it remains compact enough to keep the ski very much park-orientated. The ARV 88 is therefore aimed at skiers who carry more speed on features and want more support than the ARV 84 offers.

Armada ARV 94: shred the park, roam the resort

The Armada ARV 94 still belongs to the freestyle category. Its 94 mm waist, however, gives it more surface area when the snow becomes uneven or when the skier leaves the features behind to explore the groomers and side hits.

Compared with the ARV 88, its width can make edge changes slightly less immediate. In return, it provides more support in soft snow. The ARV 94 is therefore suited to a style where the park remains important without necessarily filling the whole day.

Armada ARV 100: the move towards backcountry freestyle

With the Armada ARV 100, the series crosses the 100 mm waist threshold and we start to enter the realm of backcountry skiing. The ski still retains a twin-tip shape and rocker at the tips: it remains suited to spins, landings and switch skiing rather than purely directional use.

The ARV 100 is an intermediate choice for skiers who still spend time in the park but devote an increasing share of their days to side hits, soft snow and natural terrain. The ARV 94 remains more immediate on firmer snow, while the ARV 106 offers more float.

Armada ARV 106: from park to deeper snow

The Armada ARV 106 is even more comfortable in pow. Its 106 mm waist increases surface area compared with the ARV 100 and makes the ski more suitable for soft snow, tree runs and deep powder.

Its camber underfoot still gives support when the snow firms up, while the tip and tail rocker help with pivoting. This format is still usable in the resort, but it will feel less immediate on hard snow than the ARV 94 and 100.

Armada ARV 112: powder takes priority

The Armada ARV 112 is the widest model in the ARV range. Its 112 mm waist increases the platform available for skiing fresh snow and places the ski in a more specialised category than the ARV 106.

Its twin-tip shape and tip and tail rocker keep the series’ freestyle orientation. The ARV 112 is therefore still intended for tricks and creative skiing. Its width, however, makes it less quick edge-to-edge than the other ARVs when the snow is firm. It really comes into its own when soft snow and open terrain are a genuine priority.

Armada ARV 106 Ti: reinforced with ATB titanal

The Armada ARV 106 Ti keeps a 106 mm waist but adds an ATB – Articulated Titanal Banding metal reinforcement. This construction is designed to increase damping and stability when speed rises or the snow gets chopped up.

Even so, the ARV 106 Ti remains a twin-tip ski with a profile combining camber underfoot and rockers at the ends. It should therefore not be considered as a pure directional freeride ski: its shape retains a freestyle bias and the ability to ski switch.

The ARW line follows a progression similar to the ARV range, but each reference must be considered separately. You should not assume that an ARW is automatically a softer or lighter version of the ARV with the same width.

Armada ARW 84: progress in freestyle with an approachable construction

The Armada ARW 84 is the narrowest and most approachable model in the women’s range. It is meant for beginner to intermediate skiers, which sets it apart from the wider ARWs.

Its 84 mm waist makes edge transitions and skiing on piste or in the park easier. It uses a poplar-composite hybrid core and AR50 sidewalls rather than the W3DGEWALL construction found on several higher-end models.

Armada ARW 88: a more solid platform for the park

Compared with the ARW 88, the extra six millimetres increase float and provide more support when the snow becomes soft or uneven. The ARW 94 is therefore well suited to a skier who wants to leave the terrain park more often without immediately stepping up to the wider ARW 100.

Armada ARW 100: more room for soft snow

At 100 mm underfoot, the Armada ARW 100 boosts float compared with the ARW 94 and is more geared toward powder skiing.

Armada ARW 106: the most backcountry-oriented women’s model

The Armada ARW 106 is the widest women’s model. Its 106 mm waist improves its ease in soft snow and on natural terrain. It will, however, feel less immediate on firm snow than the ARW 94 and 100.

It is aimed at advanced to expert skiers looking for a backcountry ski for deep days.

Armada ARV 100 Jr: the junior model for progressing off-piste

The Armada ARV 100 Jr is a junior model, not merely a shortened adult ARV 100. Its moulded hybrid core is designed for lighter riders, while its 2.1 All Mountain edges differ from the 2.5 Impact edges used on many adult models.

At 100 mm underfoot, it is aimed at young skiers who are already independent and starting to explore piste edges, fresh snow and natural terrain. The camber underfoot keeps support on the harder snow, while the tip and tail rockers make pivoting and switch skiing easier.

ARV 94 or ARV 100: which should you choose?

The ARV 94 is the more logical choice when the park, piste and lively handling are the priorities. The ARV 100 offers more float and greater ease in soft snow but requires more effort to transition quickly from one edge to the other. For mainly freestyle resort skiing, the 94 still has the edge. For splitting more days between park, piste and side country, the 100 makes more sense.

ARV 100 or ARV 106: what’s the difference?

The ARV 100 remains an all-mountain freestyle ski that can be used every day in a resort. The ARV 106 places a much stronger emphasis on fresh snow. The choice therefore depends on more than just the 6 mm difference in waist width: what matters most is the proportion of time actually spent on firm snow and in the park. The 100 is more versatile; the 106 is more specialised.

Armada ARV or Declivity: two different behaviours

The ARVs favour twin-tip shape, pivoting, switch skiing and a creative approach. The skis in the Armada Declivity range take a more directional approach, with a stronger emphasis on carved turns, edge hold and stability as speed increases. A skier looking for freestyle performance will be more drawn to the ARVs; a skier after more precise alpine handling will prefer the Declivity models.
