Structure - Construction

3D.GLASS is Völkl’s latest development to furthermore improve overall ski performance and stability even in critical snow conditions.
Compared to classic glass constructions the three-dimensional and multiple-folded glass layers in the binding area result in an increased edge grip and a more vivid rebound behavior in turns.

1 Vertical glass behind the sidewall // Notably improves the ski’s rebound abilities in turns // As a consequence the ski becomes noticeably more agile and lively.

2 Horizontally folded glass right above the sidewall // Makes the ski much more torsion-resistant and increases power transmission onto the edge // The result is obvious: a significantly enhanced edge grip, especially on hard and icy slopes.

  • 3D. Ridge  : It has become a symbol of Völkl lightweight construction. The distinctive characteristic of this technology is a raised central ridge that sharply levels out toward the edge, both in front of and behind the binding. This reduces the inertial mass around the fulcrum to a minimum and significantly enhances the agility of the ski. At the same time, the center ridge allows for a precise dimensioning of the hardness distribution, which leads to an especially harmonious flex on the ski. Despite the weight savings, the 3D.RIDGE ensures that there is no compromise whatsoever in the ski‘s durability and elasticity.
  • Carbon Stringer  :

Specific construction ensuring exceptional lightweight, consistent flex and an optimal weight/torsional stiffness ratio.

  • Full Sidewall  :

Strength and efficiency. A simple process you can always count on.

  • Multi Layer Woodcore  :

Völkl freeskiing models feature a multi-layer wood core with two different densities of wood. In the binding attachment area, a dense, ash core is used, while in the rest of the ski, the core is poplar. The more dense wood creates secure screw retention and stability, while the softer poplar section allows for resilience and snap. The flex pattern can be tailored to each ski model to match the desired performance characteristics.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • Tip & Tail Rocker  :

The ski has a variable edge length in the shovel and tail areas. The rocker height is minimal. The variable edge set between the shovel and tail makes the ski turn-happy. That in turn allows for a stiffer flex setup. A longer ski can be selected.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.
