Patagonia Retro Pile Fleece

The Retro Pile is one of Patagonia’s flagship fleece jackets. It stands out with its vintage look, a playful nod to the brand's early models. It’s made of recycled polyester, offering a soft feel and protection against the cold. Its double-sided fleece material is also breathable, contributing to good body temperature regulation. It’s made in respect of the environment and working conditions. Like the vast majority of Patagonia apparel, it’s Fair Trade Certified.

The Various Versions of the Retro Pile

The Retro Pile fleece is available for both men and women. It comes in different versions:

  • full-zip jacket
  • hooded full-zip jacket
  • half-zip fleece pullover
  • sleeveless full-zip vest

Retro Pile Fleece Jacket

The Retro Pile Jacket is a long-sleeved fleece jacket with raglan sleeves. These extend to the collar without a shoulder seam, offering greater freedom of movement. The full-length zipper on the Retro Pile Jacket makes it easy to put on and take off. It also helps with better body heat control when the outside temperature rises or during high-output activities.

Retro Pile Hoody

The Retro Pile Hoody fleece jacket has the same technical specifications as the previous version, with the addition of a hood to keep your head warm.

Retro Pile Pullover

The Retro Pile Pullover is a fleece sweatshirt version with a high half-zip collar. It is pulled over the head and ensures better heat retention in cold weather.

Sleeveless Retro Pile Vest

The Retro Pile Vest is unique because of its sleeveless design. It is ideal for keeping the torso and back well insulated from the cold. The sleeveless design has the advantage of saving space in a backpack and provides a greater range of motion.

All these versions are available in various colours. They can be comfortably worn as an outer layer over a shirt, t-shirt, or technical base layer. They are also perfect as a mid-layer, under a ski jacket, mountaineering jacket, or hiking jacket. All have a chest pocket and two side pockets, handy for storing small items. The elastane binding on the cuffs and hem of the garment increases comfort by limiting the entry of cool air. The flat seams minimize rubbing, especially with backpack straps, which is a significant advantage during long hikes or approaches. All Retro Pile fleeces are Fair Trade Certified™, guaranteeing fair working conditions to the workers who manufacture them.

How to Care for Your Patagonia Fleece Jacket?

To maintain the appearance and performance of your Patagonia fleece jacket, proper care is essential. Here are some tips:

  • Washing: You can wash your fleece by hand, preferably in cold or warm water. If you opt for machine washing, choose a low-temperature setting. We recommend a cycle at a maximum of 30°C.

  • Cleaning Products: If you happen to stain your fleece, avoid using bleach-based detergents that could irreversibly damage the material.

  • Drying/Ironing: You can tumble dry your fleece at a program for synthetic fabrics. It's best to hang your fleece to air dry. We advise against drying it directly on a heat source (radiator, wood or pellet stove...). We recommend not ironing your fleece.
