Atomic Hawx

The choice of a Hawx ski boot from Atomic starts with foot shape. The Hawx Ultra uses a narrow 98 mm fit, the Hawx Prime an intermediate 100 mm volume, and the Hawx Magna a wide 102 mm volume. Within each of these families, the flex then determines the level of support, while the buckle, BOA or Dual BOA versions offer different ways of handling closure. The Hawx XTDs form a category of their own: their walk mode makes them ideal for freeride touring, unlike the alpine Hawx boots designed primarily for resort skiing.

Hawx Ultra, Prime or Magna: choose according to foot width

The 98, 100 and 102 mm figures are reference widths, generally set around a 26/26.5 shell. They do not correspond directly to the foot width measured on the ground and change with shell size. They are mainly used to position the three Hawx volumes relative to one another.

A wider last does not mean an easier boot. The Hawx Magna 130 S, for example, still has a 102 mm fit, but its 130 flex is aimed at experienced skiers. By contrast, the Hawx Ultra 85 Boa W remains relatively approachable despite its precise 98 mm fit. The last describes the space available around the foot; the flex describes the boot’s resistance to deformation.



Atomic Hawx Magna: models for wide feet

The Hawx Magna boots retain a 102 mm last throughout the range, but their intended use changes markedly with the flex. The Magna 75 W, 85 W and 90 prioritise ease of use. The Magna 100 and 110 provide greater support for sportier skiing. The 120 S and 130 S versions are aimed at more powerful skiers, without reducing the internal volume.

Magna 100 or Magna 100 Boa?

The two models share a 100 flex and a 102 mm volume. The Hawx Magna 100 uses four buckles, allowing the forefoot and instep to be adjusted separately. The Hawx Magna 100 Boa replaces the lower-shell buckles with a BOA system to wrap this area with a single adjustment. The choice therefore mainly concerns the type of closure, not stiffness.

Magna 120 S Dual Boa or Magna 130 S?

The Hawx Magna 120 S Dual Boa combines a 120 flex with two BOA dials, adjusting the shell and cuff separately. The Hawx Magna 130 S is stiffer and keeps four buckles. The 120 S makes frequent adjustments easier; the 130 S favours a firmer flex and a traditional closure.

Atomic Hawx Prime: intermediate volume

With their 100 mm volume, the Hawx Prime sit at the centre of the range. The selection includes four-buckle models, BOA versions on the shell and two Dual BOA models. The Prime 85 W/85 Boa W, Prime 100/100 Boa and Prime 110/110 Boa pairs make it possible to choose the closure without changing flex.

Prime with buckles or Prime Boa?

With the same flex rating, the difference is not the recommended ability level. The four-buckle models allow you to adjust tension separately across several zones. BOA versions use a dial to act on the lower shell at the same time and distribute pressure around the instep. BOA makes quick adjustments easier and wraps the foot more closely; buckles retain a more segmented fit.

What does Dual Boa change?

On the Hawx Prime 105 Dual Boa W and Prime 120 S Dual Boa, a second dial adjusts the cuff. This alternative to buckles gives a different feel, with your foot and lower leg wrapped by the boot.

Atomic Hawx Ultra: a 98 mm last for slim feet

The Hawx Ultra reduce the volume to 98 mm. They are aimed primarily at narrow feet and skiers looking for a more precise, snug fit. This fit difference should not be confused with a level hierarchy: the range runs from the Hawx Ultra 85 Boa W to several 130 flex models.

Ultra 100 Boa or Ultra 100 Dual Boa?
