Description

When the snow gets deep, the Blizzard Canvas 118 ski offers a wide freestyle platform for floating, pivoting, and playing with the terrain. Its 118 mm waist provides lift in powder, while the dual bidirectional rocker helps you lift off and maintain a free-flowing feel when riding switch.

What is the Blizzard Canvas 118 ski designed for?

The Blizzard Canvas 118 is designed for versatile freestyle riding focused on powder and natural terrain. Its wide waist supports the ski in deep snow and helps maintain speed in soft conditions. The rocker at the tip and tail shortens the contact points, which facilitates pivoting, butters, and direction changes. The classic camber underfoot maintains a minimum of grip when traversing firmer sections.

Who is the Blizzard Canvas 118 designed for?

This ski is designed for intermediate to expert skiers who want a very wide freestyle ski to ski in powder, venture off the beaten path, and playfully explore the terrain.

What are the main features of the Blizzard Canvas 118 ski?

Float

Pop

Playfulness

Is the Blizzard Canvas 118 designed for deep powder?

Yes, its 118 mm waist provides excellent float in deep snow. The dual rocker helps the tip and tail lift out of the snow, making the ski easier to maneuver in powder.

Is the Blizzard Canvas 118 suitable for skiing switch?

Yes, its bidirectional twin-tip shape and tail rocker are well-suited for switch skiing. This construction also makes it easier to land reverse landings in soft snow.

Is the Blizzard Canvas 118 still maneuverable for such a wide ski?

Its poplar and paulownia wood core and its reference weight of 1,870 g per half-pair in the 180 cm size limit inertia. The double rocker also helps shorten the turning radius despite the wide waist.

Can the Blizzard Canvas 118 be used on the piste?

It can handle the piste thanks to the classic camber underfoot, which provides support on groomed snow. However, its 118 mm waist is still designed for soft snow, not for stringing together carved turns on hard snow.

Tips and advice

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.

In order to fully function and ensure safety, your bindings need to be set according to the Afnor FD S 52-748 standard. We wrote down a guide to help you find out the release value matching your needs.
