Product description — Mantra 84

The Volkl Mantra 84 ski reimagines the all-mountain category in a streamlined, traditional style, focusing on control and finesse. Perfect for exploring every aspect of the ski area, it delivers enjoyable sensations regardless of snow quality—whether firm or softer. Its main strength lies in its ability to adapt to various types of terrain while maintaining remarkable precision. As a direct descendant of Volkl’s expertise, it features the same construction as the Mantra M7 but with a narrower waist (84 mm compared to 96 mm on the M7), making it more incisive and performance-oriented on groomers and hardpack.

What is the Volkl Mantra 84 ski made for?

The Mantra 84 is aimed enthusiasts who value versatility and are looking for an entertaining piste ski that can also venture into light powder. With its 84 mm waist, it offers lively behaviour on groomed runs while remaining effective in chopped-up snow or when there’s a thin layer of fresh snow on the sides. Its wood core ensures excellent rebound and stability at high speeds, while the double rocker makes turn initiation and pivoting during transitions effortless. The traditional camber maximises edge grip on hard snow and provides powerful acceleration out of turns. In addition to this refined design, two flagship technologies from Volkl stand out: Tailored Carbon Tips make the tip livelier and more precise for easier turn initiation; most importantly, Tailored Titanal Frame brings power, rigidity, and impeccable hold—even at speed. The result is a ski that doesn’t get pushed around by changing conditions—it remains stable whatever you throw at it—and begs to be ridden aggressively. Narrower than its bigger siblings (Mantra 88 & M7), it's sharper-edged with carving focus yet still formidable as an all-mountain option.

Who is the Volkl Mantra 84 ski aimed at?

This model primarily suits advanced to expert skiers who appreciate sporty, technical skis. It will appeal especially to those who enjoy varying their speed or working on their carving technique whilst wanting something substantial underfoot if conditions change suddenly.

Tips and advice

How to choose the length of your skis?

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

How to choose the size of your piste and all-mountain skis?

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.

In order to fully function and ensure safety, your bindings need to be set according to the Afnor FD S 52-748 standard. We wrote down a guide to help you find out the release value matching your needs.

When buying a pair of skis, you will have to complete a form asking for your measurements. Please complete it with the most accurate information: it will allow our technicians to adjust precisely your bindings and lower down the risk of injury.
