Product description — Mantra 88

The Volkl Mantra 88 ski sits within Volkl’s all-mountain range. It shares the same construction as the Mantra M7, but with a narrower waist (96 mm for the M7 compared to 88 mm on this model), making it even more incisive on groomers and versatile across all-mountain terrain. Both stable and playful, it carves beautiful turns on packed snow while also gliding through light powder in the backcountry. Previously known as the Kendo 88, it was renamed Mantra 88 a year ago, inheriting the DNA of the Mantra family while refining its traditional piste/all-mountain approach.

What is the Volkl Mantra 88 ski made for?

The Mantra 88 is an efficient all-mountain ski that transitions seamlessly from groomers to side country. With its 88 mm waist, it delivers precise edge grip on hardpack whilst providing enough surface area to float when conditions are variable or snow gets deeper. The double rocker profile makes turn initiation effortless. Its wood core ensures direct feedback underfoot and optimises rebound during quick transitions between turns. Two major technologies set this ski apart: Tailored Carbon Tips reinforce the tip for smoother turn entry and enhanced manoeuvrability; Tailored Titanal Frame—a hallmark of Volkl—delivers power, precision and stability even at high speeds. These technical choices place the Mantra 88 among the most accomplished skis in its category, setting a benchmark for performance over several seasons.

Who is the Volkl Mantra 88 ski aimed at?

The Mantra 88 suits advanced to expert skiers seeking a truly versatile experience. It can link carving descents with short ventures into backcountry terrain without compromising either grip or agility.

Can’t wait to try them out.

Très bons skis!! Je préfère aux M6! Ça tourne mieux…beaucoup plus joueurs sur piste que les M6…

Tips and advice

How to choose the length of your skis?

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

How to choose the size of your piste and all-mountain skis?

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.

In order to fully function and ensure safety, your bindings need to be set according to the Afnor FD S 52-748 standard. We wrote down a guide to help you find out the release value matching your needs.
