K2 Empress 2017

Alpine Ski K2 Empress

Ski sold without binding.

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

This year K2 developped the women's freestyle ski range with the Empress, a light twin tip really easy to ride. Its secret? The Jib Rocker: an early rocker and a flat camber under foot. This is a super playful toy that turns on the spot. To protect this little jewel, K2 chose to use a CAP construction that makes the top sheet more resistant to ski vs. ski impact damage. This fabrication process envelops the core and all the intern elements under a strong protection layer.

What can the K2 Empress ski do?

This new ski is a perfect mix between all-mountain and freestyle. It edge holds on slopes and is perfect for beginner to intermediate skier. Pretty soft not to be tiring nor restraining, its behaviour is quite predictable. With the Empress you will discover freestyle skiing, ride in switch or show off doing press and butters in front of your girlfriends. You can ride in the park and attempt slides on boxes and rails. You can go beside the slopes with the 85mm waist and you will float if the powder is not too deep. All-mountain or freestyle, you don’t have to choose anymore the Empress does it all.

Who is the K2 Empress ski designed for?

K2 targets a public at large with this new women’s ski. The young athletes will love its playfulness and land tricks everywhere in the ski resort. The beginner to intermediate skiers will love its forgiveness and its versatility to play on every terrain day after day.

Manufacturer info :

Type of turns

  • Long turns

  • Bidirectional (twin tip)  :

The ski shape allows to ski forward or backward.

Structure - Construction

  • Cap Construction  :

Durable and lightweight cap skis are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Used throughout our ski line, cap constructions can be assembled with a variety of different cores. These variations, such as glass and/or metal materials, are the determining factors of the skis performance.

  • Triaxial braiding  :

Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength, that maintains the lively flex patterns of the wood core.

Rocker - Camber

  • Jib Rocker  :

Featuring an elevated tip and tail with zero camber underfoot, Jib Rocker offers the best blend of playfulness for butters and surface tricks combined with enhanced pop for unmatched ollie power.

Simply put, Jib Rocker is designed for ollies, butters, and predictable pop.

  • Park specific flex
  • Swap Base  :

The bases of these skis can come in two different color ways, depending of how the colors are swapped on the base. This gives two looks to the same ski, and ensures you are not rocking the exact same pair as your buddy who just picked up the same pair of skis.
