Part of Elan's freeride range, the Ripstick 96 is a dynamic and lightweight model, designed to carve turns in powder while remaining stable on groomers. Like many Elan skis, it features the Amphibio profile, which, with a more pronounced rocker on the outer side than on the inner side, offers better edge grip and facilitates turn initiation.

What is the Elan Ripstick 96 ski made for?

The Ripstick 96 benefits from a lightweight construction with a wood core, fibreglass, and carbon tubes, making it manoeuvrable in all conditions. Ready to tackle all sides of the mountain, it offers remarkable grip and stability thanks to a carbon plate under the tip. In powder, its 96 mm waist ensures good float for intense freeride sessions. And even when conditions are less than ideal, the Ripstick 96 maintains excellent edge grip on more compact snow, with good rebound out of turns, for fun in all weather!

I first tried Ripsticks that had been purchased (from Glisshop) by skiing friend of mine. As a long time skier and having skied on many different skis I could make a useful comparison. In short, I found these skies excellent both on and off-piste, super accurate with good edge control in hard snow. As an all mountain ski these qualities impressed me enough to buy a pair for myself.

How to choose the size of your piste and all-mountain skis?

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.
