Freeride snowboard sets
How to choose your freeride snowboard set?
On this page, find our selection of board and binding packages and our advice for freeride snowboarding, with snowboards offering better responsiveness for committed off-piste riding. Most of the models presented here will also be very comfortable on groomers thanks to stiffer constructions than freestyle boards and directional shapes favouring turning behaviour. Of course, the preferred terrain for these boards is the backcountry, powder snow, allowing you to escape far from the resorts. Thus, freeride boards will be able to tackle a wide variety of terrains and snow conditions.

What are the characteristics of a freeride snowboard package?
To provide stability and power at high speed and on rough terrain, freeride boards are stiffer and generally longer. Their directional shape favours initiating turns. The same applies to the position of the inserts, which is set back. These two elements also allow the board to lift easily and float in powder. Performance in fresh snow can also be improved by the presence of rocker, especially at the front. You will often find traditional camber between the feet, which provides good grip on hard snow, as even off-piste you don’t only find powder. The bindings offered are of course also suited to freeriding, ensuring maximum responsiveness and performance for daring runs in powder but also on hard snow. To learn more about bindings, find more details and advice in our snowboard bindings guide.
Why choose a snowboard board + binding freeride set?
The components of the sets offered by Glisshop are carefully selected to provide coherent packs delivering maximum performance and guaranteeing you lots of fun. Indeed, in your equipment the board and the bindings must be well matched to ensure balanced performance. It would not make sense to use a very stiff and responsive board with bindings that are too soft and designed for freestyle; you would not be able to benefit from the board’s characteristics. Choosing the right bindings is as important as choosing the board because the bindings are the link transmitting energy from the boot to the board.
What size freeride snowboard?
To assess the ideal size of your snowboard for freeride, you can use our tool on this page. It will give you a range to choose the board suited to your build and level. Freeride models, in addition to being stiffer for better responsiveness, are longer to provide more stability, grip and power on the various terrains encountered.
